Discovery Phase & Workshop Kit

GET THE OVERVIEW:

The Discovery Workshop

What You’ll Need:

The Essentials

Discovery Presentation Deck - A grab-and-go deck for the Discovery Workshop. The emphasis of these presentations is less on the “how-to” of the skill and more on why we need supportive care—as well as unlocking and unpacking each group’s data and insights.

OR:

Sample Presentation Deck - A grab-and-go presentation deck. Great if you’re short on time and need a quick deck, or want to look at examples for how to structure a presentation.

Presentation Slide Bank - Build your own deck! 150+ branded slides available to choose from for your group/presentation’s needs.

The Discovery Workshop Follow-Up OIR Template - A extra, optional resource for the Discovery Workshop to organize your thoughts when prepping for a follow-up call with leadership. This is a template worksheet to jot down your observations from the workshop, insights you have regarding the group/org, and recommendations for future programming. You can share this with them, or use it as a brainstorming document.

Printable PAUSE Filter - While the main point of the Discovery Workshop is to explain the “why” behind Showing Up, it’s always good to leave behind a simple lesson. This takeaway handout of the PAUSE Filter does the trick!

You May Also Want to Look At:

Reference Links for Networking & More - Whether you’re sharing in the body of a follow-up email, sending a text to a friend who’s interested, or want to check something out yourself, here’s a comprehensive list of important links when it comes to our work (i.e. website, LI page).

Qualification Call Guide - So you have an initial conversation scheduled with a potential client. Great job! Now what? Remember: first meetings are about the client’s needs—all you have to do is listen and work with them to think about how you could best support them based on what you can offer (not unlike the very skill we’re teaching here!). Download our guide for a step-by-step guide and sample questions.

Sample Workplace Scorecard - If a client (workplace) needs to see an example of a Scorecard.

Sample College/University Scorecard - If a client (university) needs to see an example of a Scorecard.

Showing Up Programs & Workshops Flyer Pack - A comprehensive flyer pack of all our workshops! Also available as a flipbook.

Leadership Insights Briefing Flyer - Great for networking with leaders. Updated for 2025.

Pricing Guidelines - Your answer to the question “what do I charge?” Ultimately, it’s up to you: but we have some suggestions and tiered options for all kinds of programs—whether you’re a seasoned vet of this work or just starting out.

Request Assessments & Pre-Surveys

Proprietary data collection is a foundational core of our work. We use Alchemer*, a survey platform software, to survey and assess individuals, groups, and organizations. For the Discovery Phase & Workshop, we typically collect data from our proprietary Supportive Culture Scorecard. It is also ideal to send an evaluation after. Use our form below to request materials!

  • The Supportive Culture Pre-Survey & Scorecard - An essential component of the Discovery Phase/Workshop.

  • Evaluations: For collecting feedback on a workshop, keynote, program, or other training.

*Alchemer Privacy Policy: Any organization or group that you work with can rest assured that their data will remain secure, protected, and confidential. Alchemer does not sell data, nor do we at Showing Up—the data is owned by us. To read or send a client Alchemer’s official privacy policy, click here.

With Skye Quinn, TIME
Foreword by Dr. John Draper, Director of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Vibrant

How do we “show up” for coworkers, friends, classmates, family, acquaintances, and even strangers when we are all struggling?

Experts in the mental health field are recognizing that we do indeed need each other. We can’t self-care our way out of this. It takes intentional connection – the reciprocal relationships within our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and communities — to ultimately bring about our emotional resilience.

Showing Up breaks it all down. It uncovers the behaviors that get us off track and outlines the science of how human care works. It equips individuals, leaders, and organizations to break through the Awkward Zone™ so that people in your life know that you care. Filled with evidence-based tools and strategies, as well as touching stories, this book is a guide to bringing strength and hope to others and ourselves.
