Culture
Culture is built one interaction at a time.
Technology has changed how we communicate, gather, work, and relate. We turn cameras off, choose messages over conversations, and have fewer of the spontaneous interactions that help people know one another, build trust, and work through discomfort.
The less we interact, the more out of practice we become.
When meaningful interaction decreases, relationships weaken. When relationships weaken, culture does too.
Showing Up builds the practical relational capability people need to communicate honestly, navigate difficult moments, support one another, and work well together.
Showing Up builds the practical skills for all relational interactions that people need to communicate honestly, navigate difficult moments, support one another, strengthen relationships, and work well together. With that, you will have a strong culture.
The way we work changed.
Our relational preparation did not.
Organizations have spent decades building technical capability. People are trained on systems, processes, technology, compliance, safety, operations, and the professional skills required to do their jobs.
But the relational side of work has largely been left to instinct.
How do I gain confidence interacting with people?
How do I have a conversation when I am worried it might be awkward?
How do I respond when another person needs my support?
How do I ask for help?
How do I make a few minutes together meaningful?
These are skills too.
We train the behaviors
that shape culture.
We build practical, observable relational behaviors people can use in the everyday interactions that shape trust, support, and how it feels to work together. These are behaviors that can be practiced, reinforced, and measured over time.
-
Notice what is happening
Build greater awareness of the people around you, recognize changes earlier, and become more attentive to what another person may need.
-
Ask better questions
Listen for what matters, and create space for more honest and useful conversation.
-
Respond well
Slow down automatic reactions, navigate discomfort, and choose responses that better fit the moment.
-
Strengthen everyday connection
Use ordinary interactions to know people beyond role and task, build familiarity, and strengthen trust across teams.
-
Give, seek, and accept support
Build confidence in all three directions of support so people are more capable of offering care, asking for help, and receiving it when it is offered.
Because culture is what people repeatedly experience from one another.
The way to get better
with people is to
practice with people.
Real interactions are unpredictable, nuanced, and sometimes awkward. That is why Showing Up experiences are live, participatory, and people-to-people.
You cannot simulate your way out of human awkwardness.
